Graveside services for Willace A. “AL” Bridges, 89 will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday June 16, 2009 at the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Friday, June 12, 2009 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, Southside.

    Mr. Bridges was born in Sipsey AL on October 12, 1919 to O. E. and Pernie Bridges. He passed away on June 11, 2009 in Shreveport where he resided after retiring from 35 years of employment with National Gypsum Co.  He proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corp.

    Preceding Willace in death were his parents, infant son, Donald Lee Bridges, and brother, James T. Bridges. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Ruby Thornburg Bridges; sons, Gary Wayne Bridges and wife, Mitzi of Spring, TX and Ronald Alton Bridges and wife, Joyce of Flower Mound, TX; daughter, Gayl Yvonne Cordell of Garland, TX; grandchildren, Kristie Turrentine, Jay Cordell, Jacey Guess, Jessica Cordell, Kevin Bridges Ochs, and Katie Anderson; sister, Barbara Smith and five great grandchildren.
