Funeral services celebrating the life of Viola Steward, will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, June 20, 2009 at Rose-Neath’s Southside Chapel. Officiating will be Rev. Cecil Marr. Interment will follow in Forest Park St. Vincent Cemetery.

    The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Friday, June 19^th at the funeral home.

    Viola was born on February 4, 1917 in Houston, MS to Basil and Cannie Gilliam.  Living a full and healthy life, Viola passed away suddenly, of natural causes, on June 16, 2009 in Shreveport, where she resided as a homemaker. She was a member of Pinecroft Baptist Church. She blessed those who knew her by living an active and blessed life to the age of 92. She will be truly missed by all.

    Viola was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Carl W. Steward, her parents, daughter, Martha Faye and grandson, Leslie O. Steward. Left to cherish her memory are her sons, James “Jim” Steward and wife, Anita, Fred C. Steward and wife, Jackie, and Thomas B. “Tom” Steward and wife, Judy; daughter, Flo Boles and husband, Sammie; 11 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren and numerous great-great-grandchildren.

    Honoring Viola, as pallbearers will be Bill Wilson, Horace Boles, Raymond Dale, Gorden Reger, Billy Donahue and Ted Hardan. Honorary pallbearer will be great-grandson, Frank James Reger.
