Funeral services celebrating the life of Veva Prothro, 83, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, Southside. Officiating will be Rev. Tom Howe. Interment will follow in Forest Park St. Vincent Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Tuesday January 19, 2010 at the funeral home.

    Veva was born on September 19, 1926 in Shreveport, LA to Beathel Whidden and Ruby Ellis Whidden. She passed away on January 17, 2010. She was a homemaker and a member of Christ United Methodist Church.

    Preceding Veva in death were her mother and beloved husband, Dozier T. Prothro, Jr. She is survived by her sons, James T. Prothro and wife, Gwen of Gilmer TX and Joe E. Prothro and wife, Susan of Greenwood, SC; grandchildren, Jason Prothro, Kyle Prothro, Andrew Prothro, Ron Marshal and Laura Lee; great-grandchildren, Kayla and Lauren Henderson and special friend, Charles Liberto. 

    Honoring her, as pallbearers will be Kyle Prothro, Andrew Prothro, Ron Marshal, Michael Gusko and Craig Lee.
