Verla M. Nash Mitchell (Mae)

Services to celebrate the life of Verla (Mae) Nash Mitchell will be held at Rose-Neath’s Southside Chapel on Wednesday, April 22, 2009 at 1:30 p.m. Officiating will be Rev. Tommy Allen, pastor of Lighthouse Baptist Church. Visitation will be Tuesday, April 21, 2009 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Burial will be at Keithville Cemetery on Mansfield Rd.

     Mae was born to Joseph Alvin and Ellaphare Montgomery Nash on November 3, 1918. She was married to Ivy E. Mitchell from 1950 until his death in 1993. Mae passed from this earth into eternal Glory on Sunday, April 19, 2009.

     Besides her parents and beloved husband, Mae was preceded in death by 2 young sisters, Marjorie and Martha Nash; a baby brother, Joseph E. Nash; and her oldest and dearest friend, her sister, Audrey Nash Goins.

     Mae is survived by her brothers, Gerald W. Nash of Fort Worth, TX, James A. Nash of Ranger, TX, John T. Nash of Stonewall, LA and W. David Nash of Kansas, OK and sisters, Alvie Nash Corley of Anacoco, LA, and Margie Nash Morgan of Fort Worth, TX. She also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews who will sorely miss their “Aunt Mae”.

     Pallbearers will be nephews, Joe Nash, Jeremy Fulghum, Karey Lemley, Tommy Nash, Jerry Morgan and Michael Coburn. Honorary pallbearers are Phillip Demma, Gary Lemley, Patrick Keith, and Tommy Hays.

     The family wishes to extend their most sincere appreciation to Doctors Scott Bicknell, Milan Mody, Allan Matriano-Lim and Kenneth Fitzgerald and all members of the staff on Tower Six at Willis Knighton Pierremont. For the loving care that Mae received in the final years and months of her life, our gratitude goes to all employees at Heritage Manor South.
