Thomas F. Jordan, Jr.

SHREVEPORT, LA - Thomas Franklin Jordan, Jr., 82, was born in Longview, Texas, April 22, 1926 and died August 14, 2008. His parents, who preceded him in death, were Frank Jordan and Olive Phillips Jordan of Beckville, Texas. He grew up and graduated from high school in Beckville, Texas. Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, August 17th, at Youngblood Cemetery, Beckville, TX with Dr. Theresa McConnell officiating. Memorial services will begin at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, August 18th, at Noel Memorial United Methodist Church Sanctuary, 520 Herndon St. with Rev. Dave Fortuna officiating. Visitation will follow in the Church Parlor.                                                                                                                          After two years in the Army Air Corps, he entered The University of Texas and graduated in 1950 with a degree in Petroleum Engineering. He came to Shreveport and began work for Arkla Gas. In 1952 he married Jeannine Antoinette Boutte’ of Abbeville, LA. They had three daughters, Pam, Jeannine, and Betsy. After six years with Arkla, he began work with Jones-O’Brien, Incorporated where he remained for twenty five years and became Vice-President of Operations. He was co-founder and CEO of Shreveport Exploration Co. and co-founder, CEO and Chairman of the Board of its successor, Shreveport Oil and Gas Co. Upon retirement in 1989, he entered LSUS and obtained a Masters Degree in Liberal Arts where he was named Outstanding Student.He was past president of the Caddo-Bossier Mental Health Association, and past president of the state Mental Health Association in Louisiana. He was past president of the Samaritan Counseling Center and in 2004 was named Samaritan of the Year. He was past chairman of the Administrative Board of Noel Memorial United Methodist Church and past chairman of Noel’s Board of Trustees. He was president of the Shreveport Petroleum Club. He was past chairman of the Youngblood Beautification Committee of Panola County, TX. He was predeceased by his wife, Jeannine and his son-in-law, Gus Piazza.  Surviving are their daughters and spouses, Pam and Murray Brasseux, Jeannine Piazza, Betsy and Gene Miller and a sister, Jane E. Jordan. He had nine grandchildren, Anthony Piazza and wife Ann, Antoinette, Lillian, Caroline Olive and Frank Jordan Piazza, Emily Brasseux Perry and husband Will, and Wilson Phillips Brasseux and Calder Elizabeth and Jordan Ray Miller, and two great-grandchildren, Gus Piazza III and Macie Morgan. Honorary pallbearers will be Gaston Jones, Leonard E. Jordan, Bill Murphy, Andy Gallagher, Edwin Jones, Howard Moore, Frank Yarbrough, Crawford Parker and Reagan Jordan.  The family suggests memorials to the Frank Jordan Research Endowment, The University of Texas Medical Branch, 301 University Blvd., Galveston, TX 77555-0429, or Noel United Memorial Methodist Church.
