Sally Jane Sherwood

    Funeral services celebrating the life of Sally Jane Sherwood, 70, will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 6, 2008 at Mangum Memorial United Methodist Church. Officiating will be Pastor Steve Caraway. Interment will be in Washington Park East Cemetery in Indianapolis, IN.

    The family will receive friends at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, Southside, Friday, September 5, 2008 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m.

    Sally was born to Kenneth and Imogene Webb on May 3, 1938 in Indianapolis, IN where she was raised. She passed away on September 3, 2008. She was a resident of Shreveport for the last 22 years and enjoyed life to the fullest by cooking, sewing, quilting, volunteering and traveling. She was a member of Mangum Memorial United Methodist Church where she held many offices. She was active in the following organizations, past president of the Red River Quilters, Love Wrappers (comforts sick children), ABC Quilts (Chairman of Southwestern United States (at risk baby crib quilts), Black and White Quilts (visually impaired children) Quilt Quest, Layettes and Cookies for Cara Center (Abused children), sleep mats for C-BARC (mentally challenged children), organized fabric donations to Generation Quilters.

    Sally’s motto was “ God did not give me children, but he gave me the love of all children and the ability to sew and provide love and comfort to those children in need.

    Her father, Kenneth Webb and nephew, Jeffrey Pierce, preceded her in death. Those left to cherish her memory are, her husband Dave Sherwood, mother, Imogene Webb, sisters, Eva Pierce and husband, Rick, Carolyn Johnson and husband, Gayle, Mary McCord and Sylvia Van Fossen; stepchildren, Steve Sherwood and wife Connie, Kris Buergelin and husband Jeff, Jim Sherwood and wife, Cathy; six grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.

    Honoring her, as pallbearers will be Rick Pierce, Don Sherwood, Jim Sherwood, Wayne Lovell, Bob Allen, Billy Riley, Rocky Berlin and Tanner Berlin.

    The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Feist Weiller Cancer Center, Dr. Tom Reilly and wife Kaye, Dr. Gary Burton, Jena and Rosemarie the treatment nurses who were absolutely wonderful.
