Roy Stevens Osborne, Sr.

Roy Stevens Osborne Sr., 83 went to be with the Lord, on January 19, 2010.  Funeral services will be held at Rose-Neath Southside Friday, January 22, 2010 at 1:30 p.m. with Reverend Terry Love officiating the service.  Interment will follow in Centuries Memorial Park.  Visitation will be held from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Southside Thursday, January 21, 2010.

Roy was born January 22, 1927 in Shreveport, LA.  Roy was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Navy.  He established Broadmoor Garage in 1955 and it continues to be a family business. He was respected by his customers and the business community as a man of hard work, honesty and integrity.  He was known by his willingness to help his fellow man.  After retiring, he enjoyed woodworking, and was an excellent carpenter and all around handyman.  He could fix anything!  “PeePaw” was happiest when his family was around him.  Many things about him will be missed: his sense of humor, the twinkle in his eyes, and the sound of his whistling.  Roy enjoyed the fellowship of his many friends at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Will and Josephine Osborne, one brother, two sisters, and beloved granddaughter Amber Nicole Osborne.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of sixty-two years Elsie Osborne, son Roy Stevens Osborne Jr. and wife Yvonne; grandchildren Jimmy Osborne and Roy Stevens Osborne III and wife Jennifer; great-grandchildren Taylor and Justin Osborne, son Scotty Osborne and wife Kay; grandchildren Alex Osborne and April Salley and husband Russ; great-grandchildren Gus and Ava Salley.  Pallbearers will be: Steven, Jimmy, and Alex Osborne, Russ Salley, Eric and Cole Garner.

The family wishes to give their heart-felt thanks to the staff at the VA Medical Center Hematology/ Oncology Department and Christus Schumpert Hospice and Grace Home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, St. Luke’s United Methodist Church or charity of your choice.
