Patience Jones Ramsey

The family of Pat Ramsey thought that it would be negligent to give an ordinary obituary for such an extraordinary woman.  Our mother, granny, aunt, and everyone’s best friend, died at home on August 14, 2008 from a stroke while being cared for by her family.  She lived 83 somewhat difficult but wonderful years.  She was preceded in death by all eleven of her half and full siblings, her husband Guy, along with numerous cousins and other relatives.  She is survived by two sons with wonderful wives, nine grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and many other relatives and very close friends.  She loved them all and was loved by them all.

“Who can find a virtuous woman”?  We did!  Patience Jones Ramsey exhibited the virtue of a Godly Christian woman in all her relationships with both God and man.  She prayed hard, worked hard, loved hard, served her friends and family hard, and enjoyed it all.

Though her earthly body has died, she now lives like never before.  God has blessed us all by her presence and now she has been rewarded for her faithfulness. And in spite of all her goodness, she knew she fell short of God’s glory and relied only on His mercy.

Her memory will live on in all those that she knew.  And for all of those who really knew her, she will be a lasting example of how we all should live and die.

The Funeral service celebrating her life will be held on Monday, August 18, 2008 at 11:30 a.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, Southside Chapel. Officiating will be Brother Frank Lambert and Brother Buddy Hankins. Private graveside will follow.
