Funeral services celebrating the life of Myrtle Stewart, 89, will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 6, 2010 at Rose-Neath’s Southside Chapel. Officiating will be Dr. Wayne Blue, Dr. Richard Blue, and Rev. Sam Procell. Interment will follow in Stewart Cemetery in Fryeburg, LA. Visitation with the family will be from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Tuesday, January 5, 2010 at the funeral home.
Myrtle was born on May 26, 1920 in Alexandria, LA. She passed away on January 3, 2010 in Shreveport where she was a resident of Garden Park Nursing Home. She was a retired saleslady for Kilpatrick Life Insurance Co. after 20 years of service. She was a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents Ado and Lessie Collinsworth; husband, Aubrey G. Stewart; one sister and two brothers. Surviving Myrtle is her son, Jim B. Warren, Jr. and wife, Peggy of Chesterfield, IN; daughters, Susie Brooks and husband, Jim of Shreveport, and Leilani Blue and husband, Wayne of Little Rock, AR. 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Jim Brooks, Jimmy Brooks, Tommy Bush, Al Delaune, Colby Delaune and Mark Whitson. Honorary pallbearers are Jody Blackwell and Jacob Cox.
The family expresses their appreciation to St. Joseph’s Hospice and Garden Park Nursing Home as well as anyone else who was a caregiver to Mrs. Stewart during her stay at Garden Park.
Her family request that donations be sent to St. Joseph’s Hospice in lieu of flowers.
