Lt. Col. Kate Pauline Clinkscales Garrison, USAF Ret. ( Mrs Charles Garrison)

The funeral service for Mrs. Kate Pauline Garrison will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday, August 22, 2008 at Kilpatrick’s Rose-Neath Funeral Home Southside Chapel. Funeral conducted by Gary Boswell with singing by Gary and his wife Patty of Westview Christian Church.  Interment will follow at Forest Park West in Shreveport, LA.  Kate will receive full Military Honors at the cemetery. Visitation will be at Rose-Neath Southside Funeral Chapel from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Thursday, August 21, 2008.

 Mrs. Kate Pauline Garrison was born in Anderson County, SC on in April 1919 to the late Levi Newton Clinkscales, Jr. and Matilda Chall Clinkscales.  She passed away in Shreveport on Tuesday, August 19, 2008.

          The various names that Kate has been affectionately called Polly and Pauline by her relatives in Anderson S.C. The Col. By her fellow nurses at LSU-Hospital, Aunt Kate by the Walton God Children, Clinky and Clinkscales by her many friends, Miss Kate by her caregiver Charles T. Mrs. Garrison out of respect by Managers and employees of Garrison’s Greenwood Gardens, and My lovely wife Kate of 57 years by Charles Garrison.

     Mrs. Garrison was educated within the schools of Anderson County, SC and graduated from Anderson Junior College. She also attended and graduated from Waltham Hospital School of Nursing, Waltham, MA and Centenary College cum laude, Shreveport, LA. Mrs. Garrison proudly served her country in the U.S.A.F. and retired as Supervisor of Medicine. In addition, she was Vice President and Co-Owner of Garrison’s Greenwood Gardens, Inc. Mrs. Garrison was a charter member of the Women in Military Service for America Memorial Officers Association, Rotary-Ann. Auxiliary Club, Zonta International and the Shreveport Rose Societies.

     Mrs. Garrison was preceded in death by her parents and brothers and sisters. She was the last surviving sibling of thirteen.  Her beloved husband of 57 years Charles G. Garrison and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and cousins survive her.

     Active pallbearers will be Mark Walton, Tim White, Michael Bordelon, Rick Mitchell, Thomas Walker and Charlie Huffman. Honorary pallbearers Homer Thomas, Clem Vaught, Dr. Harold Hayden, Brady Henderson, John Rupert, Dicky Garrison, Marshall Hall, LN. Clinkscales, Paul Brown, James McMan and Charles Tobin.

          Mrs. Garrison while in the service participated in the Berlin Airlift while stationed in England during World War II. She was a fascinating person who recounted many interesting stories to friends and colleagues over the years.

            Friends and relatives may pay their respects anyway they wish by giving to their favorite charity but flowers are welcome since flower and plants have been a symbol of love and friendship through out our history.
