Funeral services honoring the life of LaVerne Brewer Rimmer, 84, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 4, 2010 at Rose-Neath’s Southside Chapel. Officiating will be Rev. Sam Carr. Interment will follow in Forest Park West Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. Sunday, January 3, 2010 at the funeral home.

    LaVerne was born on February 22, 1925 in Sanger, TX to Charles and Jimmie Lee Brewer. She passed away on December 30, 2009 in Shreveport, where she has been a long time resident. She spent the last seven years at Live Oak. She was retired as secretary for St. Catherine’s Catholic Church after 16 years of service. She was very active in the Altar Society and Choir at both St. Catherine's and St. Joseph's Churches. LaVerne was currently a member of Word of Life Church. 

    Preceding LaVerne in death was her husband, David M. Rimmer, Sr.; her parents; sisters, Billie Rodden and Barbara Horton; grandson, Jason Lee Byrd Hunt; daughter-in –law, Martha Rimmer. She is survived by sons, David M. Rimmer, Jr. and wife, Mary, Dannie C. Rimmer, Douglas E. Rimmer, Sr. and wife, Madge, Dennis B. Rimmer and wife, Dawn, Dale P. Rimmer and wife, Karen; daughter, Debbye R. Hunt and husband, Rick; 17 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and brother, Ronnie Brewer. 

    Honoring her, as pallbearers will be her grandchildren.
