Kevin Neal Greer, 42, passed away Monday, January 4, 2010 from injuries sustained in a vehicle accident in Joaquin, Texas.
Kevin was born February 18, 1967 in Shreveport, LA. He graduated from Southwood High School in Shreveport in 1985. He graduated from The Word of Life School of Ministry in Shreveport in 1988. Most of his career was spent working in the oil industry. He served as General Manager of Greer Exploration in Joaquin, Texas for a number of years. He was one of the founding partners of Charis Partners in 2006 and was currently serving as Director of Operations of Heckmann Water Resources.
In 2008 Kevin married his long time childhood friend and true love of his life, Pamela Melton of Tyler, Texas. He was a passionate outdoorsman, enjoying fishing and hunting. He had endless compassion for people and a steadfast belief in God’s love and mercy.
He is preceded in death by his brother, Dr. Christopher Greer and grandparents, Waymon and Bernice Hatcher. He is survived by his wife, Pamela Melton Greer; daughter, Meghan Lindsay Jackson; mother, Patsy Mae Greer of Haughton, LA; father, James Gilbert Greer of Joaquin, TX; grandparents, James and Virginia Greer of Stonewall, LA; brothers, Troy Greer and wife, Trina of Pensacola, FL and Brandon Greer of Shreveport, LA; father-in-law and mother-in-law, H.D. and Carolyn Melton of Tyler, TX, brother-in-law and wife, David and Michelle Melton of Tyler, TX; sister-in-law, Christie Greer of Shreveport, LA; aunt and uncle, Debbie and Ronnie Anderson of Tyler, TX; niece, Morgan Greer; nephews, Brooks, Grant and Garrett Melton.
Pallbearers will be Jimmy Veuleman, Joey Hooker, Tony Grubbs, Shane Barber, Bobby Mihlhauser, Jay Dee Matthews and Larry Vegosen.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m., Saturday January 9, 2010 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, Southside in Shreveport, LA. Officiating will be Rev. Justin Haigler. Interment will follow in Forest Park West Cemetery on Meriwether Road in Shreveport.
Visitation with the family will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday January 8, 2010 at the funeral home.
