Joe Kenneth Cobb

 

BOSSIER CITY, LA-Funeral services for Joe Kenneth Cobb, 82, will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday, January 16, 2010 at First Baptist Bossier. Officiating will be Dr. Fred Lowery, pastor, assisted by Rev. Billy Pierce, Dr. Randy Harper and Monsignor Carson LaCaze.  Interment will follow at Forest Park Cemetery, St. Vincent Ave, Shreveport, LA.  Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Friday, January 15, 2010 at First Baptist Bossier.

 

Joe was born November 1, 1927 in Shreveport, LA to Alonzo Wilson Cobb and Flora Dillon Cobb and went home to be with the Lord on January 12, 2010 in Bossier City.  He proudly served his country during WWII and the Korean War as a member of the U.S. Army and the Merchant Marines.  Joe was the owner of Cobb's Bar-B-Que in Bossier City since 1952.  He was a fixture at his restaurant where he greeted his customers over the years, some for several generations, and knew them by name.

 

He was a member of First Baptist Bossier since 1959, where he has served as a deacon, Sunday School teacher, on the Board of Trustees and on numerous committees.  Joe was a member of the Fair Park Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite Bodies, Royal Arch, El Karubah Shrine Temple and the Bossier City Chamber of Commerce.

 

His parents, brothers, Fredrick, Herschel, Lynwood and Louie Cobb and sisters, Hazel Cobb Cunningham and Joy Cobb Shillcutt preceded him in death.

 

He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Sue Williams Cobb of Bossier City, LA; daughters, Dr. Vicki S. Cobb and husband John D. Bundy, Jr., Lisa Cobb Madden and husband Rodney; grandchildren, Colton Madden, Garrison Bundy and Breanna Bundy all of Benton, LA and numerous nieces and nephews.

 

Honoring Joe as pallbearers will be Ken Corley, Charles Cox, Leroy Faith, Shawn Feaster, Don Johnson, Teague Lampkin, John McConathy, Max Rudd and Mike Wojecki.  Honorary pallbearers will be the Honorable George Dement, the Honorable Lorenzo Walker, Marshall Johnny Wyatt, Bobby Edmiston, H.P. Burke and the members of his Sunday School class.

 

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Larry Cobb, Mike Wojecki, Cathy Grace, Shawn Feaster, Jessy Hopkins, Helen Downs, Gloria Williams Jones, Dr. Tom Planchard and the ICU staff at WK Bossier Health Center.

 

The family suggests memorials may be made to First Baptist Bossier, 2810 E Texas St, Bossier City, LA 71111, Shriners Children's Hospital, 3100 Samford Ave, Shreveport, LA 71103 or to the charity of the donor's choice.
