SHREVEPORT, LA - Jessie Westbrook Sumrall entered into rest with our Lord on Tuesday, August 12, 2008 at her home at ninety-eight years of age.  Born January 6th, 1910 in the former sawmill town of Houser, Mississippi. This mother and grandparent of forty-seven traveled to her eventual home of Louisiana as a child of three years of age by horse and wagon in 1913.  Her marriage to O.L. “John” Sumrall in Shreveport was celebrated on May 5th, 1928.Our loved one was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-seven years O.L. “John” Sumrall, eldest son Alvern, grandchildren Cheryl and Michael, six siblings and infant daughter Sarah Jessie.With affection, "Mamaw" is survived by eleven grandchildren: Vicky Sumrall Sepulvado,  Larry Sumrall, Byron Sumrall, Robin Hill, Steven Sumrall; Sr., Timothy Sumrall, Jerry Sumrall, Pamela Hudgens, and David Sumrall.It is our "faith" that this Great Grandmother's ninety-eight years will be remembered by her twenty-six great grandchildren: Dustin, Andrea, Douglas, Ashley, John, Jeremy, Jason, Scott, Megan, John Pickett, Abigail, Aaron, Jonathan, MaryAnne, April, Steven Jr., Brandon, Nicole, Courtney, Elizabeth, Jerry Dustin, Sarah, Michele, Laura, and Rachel.In her "hope" to have been with them longer her title of Great-Great Grandmother included: Cayden, Brianna, Shelton, Dalton Daniel, Chevy Luv, Callie, Dalton, Gage and Cole.With great "love" she will be most missed by her beloved children: L. J. Sumrall & Mary Louise Stevens Sumrall of Shreveport and Drs. Raymond & Malenna Sumrall of Tuscaloosa, Alabama. And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity. I Corinthians 13:13.  Understanding through our Lord that charity is love, The Sumrall family asks that you consider memorials to your preferred Faith, Hope or Charity. Pallbearers will be Grandsons Larry, Byron, Steven, Tim, Jerry, and David. Honorary Pallbearer John Louis.Visitation will be held at 5:30– 8:00pm, Thursday August 14, 2008.Funeral services will begin at 10:30 am, Friday August 15, 2008.
