SHREVEPORT, LA - Mr. Irvin passed away on August 19, 2008, after a brief illness. Graveside services will be held at a later date in Stockport, Iowa.Mr. Irvin was born on September 18, 1913 in DesMoines, Iowa and a resident of Shreveport for the past two years. He served during World War II, as a First Lieutenant in the European Theater.Mr. Irvin was preceded in death by his father, George Thomas Irvin; mother, Effie Nixon Irvin; brother, Bede Irvin; and sister, Mary Louise Edwards. He is survived by his wife, Eleanor (Ellie) Irvin; daughter, Valerie J. Gander, of Portage, Indiana; son, Gregory A. Gander and wife, Donna Coon Gander; two grandchildren, Daniel A. Gander and Holli D.
