Funeral services honoring the life of Irma Amelia Harper, 90, will be held 11:30 a.m. Monday, August 11, 2008 at Rose-Neath’s Southside Chapel. Officiating will be Dr. Michael McKee. Interment will follow in Forest Park West Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday, August 10, 2008 from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m.
Amelia was born on December 19, 1917 in Clarks, LA to Thomas and Allie Gardner. She passed away August 8, 2008 at the Grace Home in Shreveport. She was retired from Libby Owens Glass. Amelia was a member of First Baptist Deaf Mission and member of the Deaf Actions Center.
Amelia was preceded in death by her parents, sons, Ervin Tildon Hicks and Fred Oliver Hicks and brother, Hinton Gardner. Left to cherish the memory of her, are her husband, Glen Harper; sons, Raymond Hicks and wife Renee, Shelby Harper and wife Nedra; daughters, Pat Loftin and husband Bruce, Shirley Roy, Dianna Farsey and husband Bill, Lisa Mack and husband Brian; brother, Thomas Gardner, Jr. and wife Joyce; twenty grandchildren and twenty-eight great-grandchildren.
Honoring her as pallbearers are Rocky Hicks, Ryan Hicks, Dewayne Loftin, Jeff Bell, Keith Williams, and Danny Gaddy.
A special thanks to Dr. Richard Haynie, Dr. Mike McKee and to the staff at Grace Home for their kindness and loving care shown to Amelia.
