Beverly Jean Caskey Meeks

     Memorial services for Beverly Jean Caskey Meeks, 74, will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at Rose-Neath’s Southside Chapel.  Inurnment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery in Greenwood, LA.  Visitation with the family will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, January 26, 2010 at the funeral home.

     Beverly was born on June 20, 1935, in Bienville, LA.  She passed away on January 21, 2010 in Stonewall, LA after a brief illness.  She was a resident of Keatchie, LA for 40 years.  She was a homemaker and retired from insurance and retail.  Beverly was a long time member of Gloster Baptist Church and loved being a part of her Sunday school class and other church activities.  For many years Beverly was a member and officer of the Shreveport chapter of Christian Women’s Club.

     Beverly had a deep faith in God and lived her life to the fullest.  She was outgoing, friendly, and always put a smile on your face.  Wherever Beverly went, she would make a new friend and made many over the years.  She loved her family deeply and found special joy with her granddaughters, Katina, Alex, Emma, and Sarahbeth.

     Beverly was preceded in death by her husband, Martin C. Meeks; son, William F. Meeks; parents, Mattie Lou Ford Caskey and Floyd Caskey; sisters, Jonnie Lucille Caskey, Ernestine Caskey Davidson, Floy Lavon Caskey Dunn, and Willie Mae Caskey Alexander.  Left to cherish her memory are her son, Martin C. Meeks, Jr.; granddaughters, Elizabeth Mae “Emma” Meeks and Sarahbeth Rivers of Shreveport, LA; daughter, Kathy Meeks Papathopoulos and husband, Stephen; granddaughters, Katherene Nicole “Katina” and Alexandra Michell “Alex” of Grapevine, TX; sisters-in-law, Sarah Arnold and Nancy Wyatt of Shreveport; brother-in-law, James E. Grappe of Shreveport; numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members and many special friends which she considered a part of her family, including Myrtle Stevenson of Keatchie, LA.

     Honorary pallbearers will be John Crow, Jim Nichols, Connie Lee Daniels, Hall Burford, David Burford, Charles Burford, Chad Burford, Durwood E. Lindsey, Randy Hamontree, David Clampitt, and Gary Evans.

     The family requests, in lieu of flowers, you consider the fund for upkeep of the Greenwood Cemetery Association, 10074 Wise Ave., Greenwood, LA , c/o Linda Riffle; to Gloster Baptist Church, or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
